Dressed to live

Fashion has come further than I ever thought it would.  Ladies, I know you would covet  a Burberry coat, who wouldn’t? But wouldn’t it be cool if it was bulletproof and it was your little hidden secret? You know, something fashionable that’s an accessory to your schnazy armored car and your slew of  big-bicep-ed body guards.  I have my peeps, don’t you?  Well before you feel left out, you too could start collecting the latest fashions in personal security…’cause you never know when you’re gonna need it.

That’s what Colombian designer Miguel Caballero must’ve thought when he started his line of bullet proof clothing in the early 1990’s. ‘Why?’ you may ask. Simple:  The drug cartels. At the peak of the Medellin drug cartel’s power, Colombia was awash in violence. Now the multibillion-dollar drug trade is dominated by Mexican cartels and since then Mexico too has seen a huge surge in violence.  Considering we are only half way through the year, they have already had 1400 killings, not to mention the high rate of kidnappings, car theft, and street crime….So the question is, ‘Why not?’ And now his clothing is the latest craze in Mexico City too.  Caballero, the Clothier is making a killing, pun intended, in his sleek glass and metal showroom, located in the most upscale neighborhood in Mexico City, Polanco.  Located on the ever popular Avenida Presidente Masaryk, sitting right across the street from Hugo Boss…Not bad eh?

His high-end boutique caters to a high-end clientele. Caballero boasts that he dresses the Presidents of Columbia, Peru and Guatemala and he even says that he created an armored kimono for Steven Seagal. Now…that is sexy.  At only 2 grand a suit - not bad if it’s going to save your life.  And ladies, his racks are lined with bulletproof blazers, suede jackets that’ll stop a .44 magnum, T-shirts lined with body armor, and guayabera shirts for catching sun or bullets.  How about a Burberry-type raincoat or an orange ski parka with a faux fur collar? He’s got that too. And they’re 100% flexible - unlike the bulletproof vests the cops sport; these are designed for fit and comfort too. They aims to please. So…you love danger, you love excitement, the high life….looking to be the next Ms. Cartel? No worries, you’re all set for a night on the town,  or drinks après-ski with your dangerously handsome man who’s packin’ something else other than what’s between his legs.  Oh yeah…

According to the company they sold 37,000 garments last year! Wow, are you sure this isn’t a front for the cartel?  With a motto, ‘Design, fashion, discretion’, who knows.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Howie:  You and me both.  I was on the computer today trying to learn as much as I could about the local candidates and had a hard time finding all of them….and then I took a nap in the early evening only to wake up in a small panic - remembering that I needed to vote….just made it to the polls.

I have to say Howie…I learn more and more about you when you comment outside of the norm (?) that we discuss.  You never cease to surprise me with all the happenings in your life!  And no worries…I too am enjoying another manly appearance on this blog.

Hey ZL:  Great to chat with you live also! That scene would’ve wierded me out too. This world keeps getting smaller and smaller…I am ready to expand my travels. In regards to your q:  Only you know best my dear. Maybe you don’t feel the need ’cause you just need a break from all of the talking, thinking and processing hmm? Take it. Posting early myself…I’ll check it out…chat later.:)

Readers: I’m outta here…off to buy a bulletproof guayabera shirt to replace my worn n’ torn body armor T.

Gratefully your blog host,

michelle  ?

I found that today, having no comments on this blog, may have something to do with its content? What does on ask or say to this topic and body? It is nearly unfathomable that this is for real?!
Yet, I know, that it would be for real and that there, sadly, is a market for this. Amazingly enough there seems to be a large market for this. At first I laughed, then I pondered the reality of the clothing and its usage.

Anonz, I would think that you might pack this on your next trip?

I have finally gotten AH to master the english language as we know it. He is anxious to discuss the state of American politics. Seems it was his whole life forming a viable nation.

I hope you will contribute to his continuing learning process both in the language and the civil studies.

If Tal could work faster, we girls could have the time to get into fashion. What’s the use coming back with these great bodies if we can’t at least tempt the locals. The boys don’t seem to be able to be tempted by fashion. They have no clue about labels, but the locals love ogling us.

I will say the boys did spend a lot of time in the simulator learning how to dress for success. They look good in their choices. I would fuck’em. I am suggesting they spend some time in the simulator on clothes stimulation. Style recognition and flesh admiration were added to the simulator’s knowledge base by Lydia while she was upstairs so they have the programs to learn from.

I, for one, want the boys to be excited by what I have on. Supergirl or not, I am still a girl, and a girl needs her admiration from the males, especially that special someone.
