This ‘N That Chit Chat

Good morning…

Hey Zen Lill: How’s it going? How was the weekend? I wish I could’ve gotten up early and watched the entire match. I am usually up @ seven on the weekends but our neighbors across the street were not doing a good enough job of keeping their seven dogs quiet - hence I was woken up both Friday and Saturday nights. Last night I was prepared. Phone by the bedside and the number for the Police Dept. / Noise complaints. With no little sleep over the weekend and my Monday morning early rise, write, and work, I needed my beauty rest. And guess what? - It was as quiet as it could be.  :)

Lili: Girl, I am still amazed at the things that people write on my blog. Yeah, I’ll admit the guy could care less about you or your mother, know his condition. But what about you? It is a hard lesson to learn, when you simply could’ve put on a jacket to protect yourself. But I know you know that. As far as going to your father - if your parents are still having sex, your mother is just as bad as the guy that gave it to you and her. And now maybe your father has it. I think you need to have a little family meeting and stop the spread of this vicious disease. Start being responsible for your actions.

As far as going to the authorities, you’ll have to decide that on your own. Revenge is a dish best served chilled - I think he got his payback. Now you just need to decide if you can live with it.

Hey Mark: I love watching tennis but I rarely do.  I can see that you are totally into the game. Thanks for chiming in with your opinion.

Leha:  I know nothing about this alien incident with the USS San Francisco. Maybe Anna or Peter might know something. The TAO most undoubtedly would, I would think.  Let’s see if we can get you an answer. Anna, Peter, TAO:  Anything to add here?

Larry & Freda:  First of all, as much as I hear you, and you have every right to your opinion, this is my blog. And as much as I appreciate my readers, I am not one to ban someone from my blog simply because others ask. It is a free venue for all. If I started picking and choosing who and who cannot make a comment based on my readers requests, this blog would lose all integrity. And that isn’t going to happen.  Next thing you know people will be asking for our resident bigot George to be banned. I’m trying to eliminate bigotry, not add to it. And banning someone from my blog would be doing just that. No thanks; that is just not me.

Rest assured, the TAO have not abandoned my blog. What would that say about the TAO? No, the TAO comes and goes as they please. They will be back commenting on my blog in no time. I am sure that their plates are full with whatever else they need to do while they are here.

And if I lose some readers…as I have said before, ‘So be it.’ Nothing against any of my readers. I appreciate you stopping by and joining in on our little daily blogfest. And I would hope that you stop by because there is more to my blog than just the alien encounters. For some I know the TAO is your main pull, and I am okay with it. I love their presence here too. For others, there are other topics that keep you reading and I am delighted for that too.

I started this blog for my own pleasure. Yes, I was hoping to make a buck or two so that I could continue writing. But I have not let the lack of money or time stop me from achieving my goal of writing daily. Believe me, I have thought about just giving it up, and I just don’t have it in me to quit.  I keep it going because I enjoy it and because of all of you…and I know I am inspiring a few of you out there from the comments that you make to me. Not to mention, the passing along of some beneficial advice and information that I hope helps the world to become a better place for all. If I can achieve that at some point, then I have reached my goal.

I hope that you’ll stick around with me. :>)

Gratefully your blog host,

michelle

You tell them Michelle. This is America, we don’t ban free speech hear. If I want to speak my peace, I have to be willing to have others who differ from me (until we get those ovens fired up) in their opinions have their say.

You had yours bitch. So shut the fuck up and let the kike have his.

    George

  2. Sandra Says:

Okay Michelle I’ll accept your decision not to ban the creep. But how can you be sure that the TAO will be back?

Howie, you asshole, you should be apologizing to the TAO for your oafish behavior. How can that sweet Al stand your selfish behavior. He has been so silent because even he finds what you did repulsive.

You sic Carr on living beings because they didn’t respond to you when you felt the need for attention. What a psychopath. You are the prime example why people shouldn’t be allowed to carry guns.

  3. Health Info Says:

What Your Tongue Says About Your Health

    Giovanni Maciocia

In conventional Western medicine, your doctor may ask you to stick out your tongue to give him/her a better view of your throat. But in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) — a system of health and healing that originated thousands of years ago and is still widely practiced in many Asian countries — the doctor is likely to ask you to stick out your tongue because its appearance can tell a lot about your health.

    THE CHINESE MEDICINE APPROACH
In TCM, the four primary components of diagnosis are the tongue, the facial complexion, the pulse and the symptoms themselves. But a TCM practitioner doesn’t use these diagnostic tools to determine whether you have heart disease, diabetes or any other illness as defined by Western medicine.
Rather, a diagnosis in TCM identifies patterns of imbalance, or disharmony, in the body’s chi (life force). For example, 10 people with diabetes might have 10 different patterns of imbalance, and each would receive a customized treatment aimed at restoring balance — typically some combination of Chinese herbs, acupuncture and recommendations for healing foods and exercises.
    WHAT THE TONGUE IS SAYING
The three most important features in tongue diagnosis are color, shape and coating.
Color. A normal tongue is pale red or pinkish red.
    Main deviations…
Too red. This suggests what TCM calls “heat,” which may indicate an inflammation or infection somewhere in the body.
Pale. A pale tongue points to “yang deficiency.” There are two fundamental types of chi energy — yin and yang. Yin chi is like your savings account — your long-term energy. Yang chi is like your checking account — your day-to-day energy. When yang chi is spent — by Monday’s hectic schedule or Tuesday’s traffic jam — it is easily replenished by rest and a healthful diet. But when you deplete yin chi — through weeks, months or years of poor diet, overwork and stress — you are much more prone to imbalance.
Purple. This indicates a condition TCM calls “blood stasis,” a slowing or pooling of blood that can result in various conditions or symptoms. If you have heart disease, you almost certainly have blood stasis — but having blood stasis does not mean you have heart disease. More likely, a purple tongue is an indication — perhaps years in advance — that a chronic health problem may be in your future. Purplish, crooked veins under the tongue also may indicate blood stasis — and high blood pressure (hypertension) or heart disease.
Shape. A normal-shaped tongue is soft and supple, without being too flabby. Main deviations…
Cracked. A crack in the middle section of the tongue, for example, often indicates a tendency to develop stomach problems.
Swollen. A swollen tongue indicates what TCM calls “phlegm,” which refers not only to its meaning in Western medicine — the presence of mucus — but also to other chronic accumulations, like cysts (benign, fluid-filled sacs sometimes found in the breasts) and masses, such as fibroids (benign tumors). Forty percent of people are likely to have this imbalance.
Thin. A thin, flat tongue can indicate a deficiency of yin (long-term energy).
Coating. The tongue’s normal coating is white, thin and slightly moist. An absence of coating indicates a yin deficiency. A thick coating points to digestive problems, such as acid reflux or irritable bowel syndrome.
    EMOTIONAL IMBALANCES
The tongue also can point to emotional difficulties, such as excessive stress and/or anger.
Red tip. This is a strong indication that a person is under chronic emotional stress.
Deep, midline crack. A crack that extends from the back to the tip of the tongue is another sign of emotional stress — or having a tendency to experience it.
Red sides. This indicates what TCM calls “liver heat” — which is often caused by repressed anger, frustration or resentment.
    LOOKING AT YOUR OWN TONGUE
While accurate tongue diagnosis with TCM is too complex for the layperson, you can look at your own tongue, detect possible imbalances like those described in this article — and then consult a TCM practitioner or other health professional. The tongue changes from week to week due to diet, so a once-a-week self-examination is best — preferably in the morning after breakfast.
What to do: Look at your tongue in a mirror under natural light, standing as close to a window as you can. Subdued or fluorescent lighting does not give an accurate picture of tongue color.
Stick out your tongue for 20 seconds — longer, and it starts to turn red as a result of the effort of holding it out. If you want more time, pause for a few seconds, then stick out your tongue again and repeat the 20-second interval.
Avoid eating or drinking colorful foods, such as berries or red wine, for at least two hours before looking at your tongue. Prescription medications, such as antibiotics, may change the appearance of the tongue. In addition, do not use a tongue scraper before the examination, as it will remove any coating on the tongue.
What to look for: Sudden appearance of an overall red color or redness in a part of the tongue… a swelling of the tongue… sudden appearance of a thick coating… or a sudden change in the color of the coating from white to yellow.
A change in coating probably reflects a short-term change in your digestive system, such as digestive upset from something recently eaten. A change in color or shape probably reflects a long-term imbalance, such as diabetes or heart disease.
    WORKING WITH A TCM PRACTITIONER
One advantage of TCM is that it uses tongue diagnoses to help spot imbalances years before they produce obvious health problems — so you can take measures to prevent ill health. To find a TCM practitioner, contact the American Association of Oriental Medicine (866-455-7999, aaom.org).

Health interviewed Giovanni Maciocia, a renowned practitioner and teacher of traditional Chinese medicine based in Amersham, England, and a visiting professor at Nanjing University in Nanjing, China. He is the author of Tongue Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine (Eastland) and five other textbooks, including The Foundations of Chinese Medicine, Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine and The Practice of Chinese Medicine (all by Churchill Livingstone).

That axiom that says - the good die young but evil lives on - was certainly true for Robert McNamara.

Robert Strange McNamara, who served as U.S. defense secretary during the Vietnam war and subsequently as World Bank president, died this morning at his home at the age of 93, the Washington Post reports.

Hi Mischa, excellent weekend, the 4 hours of tennis…and Mark, I would’ve preferred a face-off betweenn Andy Murray and Federer myself but that’s part of the game, isn’t it? Eliminated by Roddick though, ouch. Anyway, I had the extraordinary 4th of July, I was on a deck in Rolling Hills Estates that has a citylights and beach views from Long Beach to Santa Monica, so I saw local and beach fireworks while watching hundreds of smaller versions going on all over the city, heavy WOW factor : ) beautiful tanning weather, too, and not a tan line to be found, just the way I like it ; )

Gloria, hey - thanks for the tips on the veggie burgers, will definitely give the chipotle one a try : ) I eat a lot of Boca Burgers, I need a new brand.

I read the writes and comments here everyday and I’m so glad no one is edited out, I love diversity - George, Howie, Al, TAO, et al…The US may not be debt free but in this regard, free speech, we are - that’s a right worth fighting for.

  6. Melanie Says:

President Obama just signed an agreement with Russia’s leaders to begin reducing both countries’ stockpiles of nuclear arms, and develop a plan for eliminating nuclear weapons from our world.1 It’s a day we’ve dreamed of for years, and an essential step toward reversing the huge arms build up that began under President Ronald Reagan.

The new treaty may cut the number of warheads both the US and Russia stockpile by as much as a third.2 But it can’t go into effect until the Senate ratifies it. Email your Senators right now and tell them to support Obama’s new treaty to reduce nuclear weapons and make the world a safer place.

Obama’s agreement with the Russians is intended to replace the Cold War-era Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty before it expires in December.3 If it’s enacted, the new deal will cut the number of nuclear bombs each country can stockpile to about 1,500. That’s still more than enough to blow up every major city on the planet but 73 percent fewer than we have today.4

Perhaps most important, if the two countries that hold 90 percent of the world’s nuclear weapons can agree on this deal, it may serve as a model for other countries to reduce their arsenals, and put us on the path to a world free of nuclear weapons.

A nuclear free world is a vision TrueMajority members and Barack Obama have been working toward for a long time.5 But we can’t take this next step until the Senate gets on board. Email your Senators now and tell them it’s time to reduce our nuclear arsenal by backing up Obama’s new treaty.

  7. Flo Says:

So has the cat got you tongue Howie. Why do you always take the wimps way out? When I was a little girl my mother used to say “sticks and stones will break your bones, words never will.

I guess that doesn’t apply to the wimps. Can’t take a little criticism, eh? Or are you trying to make up an excuse for your spoiled brat actions?

Man up and just apologize for your terrible behavior. It may be difficult for some to accept an apology from a person who has apologized in the past and then repeated virtually the same behavior when his ego suffered a perceived slight again.

But don’t just drop your drawers and take it up the ass. Pull your pants up and get back in the game. The girls and guys at our office miss the banter about whether you actually know what you are taking about and the whether you have this connection to a Supreme Being.

And another thing we have been debating whether or not he has relationships with women. Has he ever told you about a relationship with a woman?

As a 3 year combat veteran of the Vietnam War, I am so glad this sob is finally dead. I would love to have been there to see it. He was responsible for the deaths of more than 50,000 Americans and the architect of the no win policy. Those of us who fought in that war wanted to win but he wouldn’t let us. It was so frustrating and so confusing. I went over there a patriot and came back confused, betrayed and messed up the rest of my life. I hope he suffered greatly before he died.

  9. Anonymous Says:

Thank you for your service to our country. I agree with you whole-heartedly - I’m glad he’s dead, I only wish he would have died before my Dad (USMC Viet Nam vet) died so we could have toasted his death the way we did Westmoreland’s.

In my humble opinion you were a patriot then and you still are.

Myself being one of those who had served in Vietnam I can say with some authority that I question the judgement of Presidents that enlist the advice or services of men who have a great deal of experience working for Corporations, have backgrounds in Mathematics, economics and Philosophy and absolutely none about Warfare or apparently other nations. This seems to be a trend with our Presidents.

War is a Racket and just because some President makes the claim that it is in our countries national Security interests to start a war doesn’t make it so or the truth. People lie and so do Presidents and their advisers.

Unfortunately many people die, rather permanently because of their stupid decisions. That is why there should be a World Court to punish those decisions. Somebody needs to put a stop to the insanity.

  12. Anonymous Says:

    Amen.

When the Vietnam War ended and when Nixon left office after Watergate, I was of a forgiving frame of mind, knowing that the lessons learned would prevent similar recurrences. How wrong I was! I now believe that criminals in the Bush Administration who lied to go to war, profited from war, and who cooked up rationales and new definitions to sanction torture need to be punished, not for vindictive reasons, but so that the lessons might be longer remembered.

  13. Anonymous Says:

Good post. I’m sure your’e familiar with Smedley Butler:

    http://www.warisaracket.com/

It still resonates today. And it’s certainly no secret that the previous administration lied us into war, and that Bush and Cheney never saw military service (I don’t think Bush’s apocryphal Guard service counts). And it’s also pretty evident that they ignored the advice of nearly every military expert in order to pursue a political agenda that had nothing to do with national security-and I continue to be amazed that there are still people out there who believe that their actions actually made the world safer.

  14. Anonymous Says:

Obama is a lot better than Kennedy but the system is the same and not easy to fix. There is even more reliance on private funding of elections and Congress is farther down the road to relying on lobbyists.

If things go wrong, not that likely but possible, the corrupt, elitist, and imperialistic Republican Party could reclaim the White House in one or two national elections. This would be absolute disaster for the US and the entire world.

  15. Ellen Says:

Sarah Palin matters because she can still influence that 55% of brain dead white voters. My relatives that keep calling me to tell me the latest “wonderful” thing God has gotten her to do.

It would be hilarious, if their voting as a bloc wasn’t so dangerous. If I may quote a blog entry I read recently, “They are equally delusional, marinated in ideology, susceptible to manufactured symbolisms, addicted to political drama, and marooned from facts.”

Thank God we got someone in the White House other than a white male. I would have preferred Hilary, but Obama has excelled my expectations.

While most Americans took time off to relax this holiday weekend, news broke that insurance companies and special interests have intensified their campaign to destroy health care reform.

They’re now spending more than $1.4 million dollars a day1 to water down reform and kill President Obama’s public health insurance option.

The only way we can compete with their money and influence is to show so much public support that Republicans and conservative Democrats know they can’t negotiate the public option away behind closed doors.
