About this time last year I wrote an article about an organization ‘Stop The Spray’ which is a non- profit, founded to give a voice to those opposing the spraying of harmful and senseless pesticides in the Bay Area, to rid the area of the Light Brown Apple Moth.

Well, it’s that time of year again and the spray is about to happen again, unless we do something about it. If this concerns you, as it does me, take 15 minutes today and make some phone calls and make your voice heard.  The letter below explains exactly what to do - thank you. Thanks Tracey for the info!

Dear Friends,

As you have heard, the apple moth environmental impact report has been released and the program is much the same as before, with aerial and ground spray and other chemical and environmentally disruptive treatments.

Here are 6 things you can do now to stop the spray.

We are updating our website regularly with new information on the EIR and efforts to stop the program: www.eastbay.stopthespray.org

Thanks for your support,

Nan

1. Call USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack and ask him to reclassify the light brown apple moth to non quarantinable status and stop the LBAM program now.

- phone: 202-720-3631 is the main line for the USDA. Ask to leave a message for Secretary Vilsack.  OR EMAIL: agsec@usda.gov

*Talking points for calls/emails below after #2

2. Call California Department of Food and  Agriculture Secretary A.G. Kawamura and ask him NOT to certify the apple moth EIR and to stop the LBAM program now.

- phone: 916-654-0433 OR email:akawamura@cdfa.ca.gov

*Talking points for calls/emails:

-the state environmental document on the program has just come out and includes the possibility of aerial spray of large populated areas of California

-the moth has been intercepted in CA since 1984, but the state can point to only 1 questionable incident of possible apple moth damage in the past 26  years

- the program is an enormous waste of taxpayer money in hard economic times

3. Call your local city councilmember or county supervisor and ask that the city council or county board immediately send a letter to Secretary Kawamura asking him to delay certification of the Environmental Impact Report (which could be certified as soon as Thursday, Mar. 4) until public hearings on the program are held in all affected communities.

*Model letter from City of Albany attached to this email.

4.  Call your state and federal representatives and ask them to support federal reclassification of the moth and ending of the apple moth quarantines and eradication program, and tell them that the eradication program is a complete waste of taxpayer money.

* some key contacts at end of this email

5.  Call the state departments of Public Health, Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, and Pesticide Regulation and ask them to contact Agriculture Secretary Kawamura to request that he not certify the environmental impact report until the full formulas of the apple moth pesticides, including the adjuvants or so-called inerts, are disclosed (and for good measure add that you think this program is a complete waste of taxpayer money).

California Department of Public Health:   Mark Horton. Director    916- 558-1700 [ASK TO LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR DR. MARK HORTON] mark.horton@cdph.ca.gov

Department of Pesticide Regulation   Mary Ann Warmerdam, Director  916-324-1452    mwarmerdam@cdpr.ca.gov

Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment: Joan Denton, Director   (916) 322-6325    jdenton@oehha.ca.gov

6.  Call or email the office of State Assemblymember Sandré Swanson and express your appreciation for his introduction of AB 1721, the School Healthy and Safety Protection Zones Act, which would establish pesticide spray safety zones around schools across the state.  Mr. Swanson’s office needs to know BY NEXT WEEK that we support his efforts, especially from residents of his district: Oakland, Alameda, and Piedmont.

Betty: Oh…exposure is a bitch isn’t it? How many more of those that oppose will be revealed? But check this out…now the Republican lawmakers are thinking of calling for a further investigation. Did they want to further investigate Ashburn when he was recently busted? Of course not. As usual the GOP is trying to exploit the situation. They are ruthless and relentless.

Robert: Welcome back! (?) Thanks for your write.

Loni and Kelly: Thank you. :)

Anonymous: lol.

Earthquake In Chile: Mother Nature Or?

Posted by admin on 27th February 2010

I’m sure by now all of you are aware of the huge earthquake in Chile, 1000 times stronger than the one they experienced in January. What is going on here? We were warned by the TAO of what the Emperor would do. I don’t think we need to see just how capable he is - do you? I think not.

Madaline: This being the Emperor’s work, I want you to discreetly divert any tsunami heading towards the Hawaii area. - Calm the seas. You have your orders 21MRB.

Readers: I don’t have much time to say anything else today. Got to run; got to post.

May peace be with us all.

Hellooo 2010…Wholeness, Life Forces, And The Sun’s Energy

Posted by admin on 1st January 2010

Happy New Year!

Whether you call it ‘twenty ten, ‘two thousand ten’ ‘2K10′, ‘two o, one o’, or whatever else, it is a new year, that is for sure. And being that my fave number is ‘three’, and all of the symbolism around the number three, I think it’s gonna be a wonderful year for me, and all of you too.

Remember when I pulled a Rune? I blogged about Runes back in March of last year. I decided to pull one this morning again for our beloved planet. I pulled the Rune Sowelu, Wholeness, Life forces, The Sun’s energy.

Sowelu stands for WHOLENESS, that which your true nature requires. It embodies the impulse towards self realization and indicates a path you must follow, not from ulterior motives, but from the core of your individuality.

Seeking WHOLENESS is the spiritual warrior’s true quest. And yet what you are striving to become in actuality, is what you by nature already are. You must become conscious of your essence and bring it into form, express it in a creative way. A Rune of great power, making life force available to you, Sowelu marks a time for regeneration right down to the cellular level.

Although this Rune has no ‘reversed position’, there is a reason for caution. You may see fit to withdraw, to retreat in the face of  pressing situation, especially if events or people are demanding that you expend your energy now. Know that such a retreat is a retreat in strength, and that it can indicate the need for a voyage inward for centering, for balance. Timely retreat is among the skills of the Spiritual Warrior.

At the same time, for some this Rune counsels opening yourself up, letting the Light into a part of your life that has been secret, shut away. To accomplish this may call for profound recognition, for admitting to yourself something that you have denied.

There is a prayer known as the Gayatri that embodies the spirit of Sowelu. Address the Sun in this fashion:

You who are the source of all power,

Whose rays illuminate the whole world,

illuminate also my heart

so that it too can do Your work.

While reciting the Gayatri, visualize the Sun’s rays streaming forth into the world, entering your own heart, and then streaming out from your heart center, back into the world. This is a powerful, life enhancing prayer.

Again, there is caution here not to give yourself airs. Even in a time of bountiful energy, you are required to face and vanquish your refusal to let right action flow through you. Nourish this capacity, for it is a mark of true humility.

Practice the art of doing without doing: Aim yourself truly and then maintain your aim without manipulative effort. For by our own power we do nothing. Even in loving, it is love that loved through us. This way of thinking and being integrates new energies and permits you to flow into wholeness, which is the ultimate goal of the Spiritual Warrior.

After reading the meaning of this Rune Sowelu, I was so excited. Could there have been a more appropriate Rune to pull for our beloved planet than one that represents Wholeness? Wholeness for the planet, and all of its inhabitants - how beautiful.

I have always been a big fan of the Sun as you know. :) The Sun graces us all no matter where we are on this planet. If you believe in the power of collective intention, as I do, we can all address the Sun with the above prayer…the Sun’s rays streaming from our hearts back out into the world. I just love this.

And a gentle reminder….let’s heed the warning of remaining humble throughout - there is no ego in this spreading of love and joy etc…we are only portals through which these Sun energies flow through us, out into the world, creating Wholeness.

Readers: I think creating Wholeness is a wonderful new year’s resolution for our planet and all. What do to you think? Can you be part of the collective intention of Wholeness, by addressing the Sun? Also, how does the Rune Sowelu apply to you, if at all, personally? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Blog me.

Have a beautiful first day of a new year! Let’s make it a grand year - Okay?!

Gratefully your blog host,

michelle

Merry Christmas!

Posted by admin on 25th December 2009

It was surprising and delightful to come home last night from enjoying time with my family, and see comments from all of you! Thank you for the Christmas wishes and for being here. :)

Ruth: Thanks for posting two good articles. Two other great mood enhancers I have discovered over the years besides L Tryptophan, is 5HTP and Sam-E. I highly recommend both. Did you and Evelyn have a fab time together? Hi Evelyn!

Moveon.org: Thanks for posting. I was very concerned about the health care bill; still am. But I am keeping faith that this is just the beginning of progress.

Anonymous: I saw that episode of 60 minutes too and it mad me mad. I always feel that way when OJ is spoken of in that manner.

Liney: Nothing like breeding alcoholism. Another ‘ism’ that needs to disappear. (see below :)

**********

Dear SantaI only wish for one thing for Christmas, and that is a better planet for all….for our environment to be loved and cared for; a mutual relationship that support, sustains and thrives, for peace to come to all walks of life that suffer at the hands and actions of others, for prosperity and good health for all, and for racism, sexism, and any other ‘ism’ that separates us to end. Is that too much to ask? I don’t think so.

Can you stuff that into your bag of miracles this year, and spread it around the world? Thank you.

Anna, Peter, and all of my Chamorro readers (hafa adai), and Ruth, Evelyn, and the rest of my international readers: I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, and everyone else that was blessed with your presence.

Doug, Zen Lill, Al, Howie, AH, Helena, Robert, Anonz, Mark, Billy, Janet, Liney, and all of my blog readers, TAO included…too many to list, but you are all included…

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

With love…

Talkin’ Bout A Revolution….

Posted by admin on 21st December 2009

…sounds like a whisper.

“Poor people gonna rise up and get their share.

Poor people gonna rise up and take what’s theirs.

Doug and I were just talking about this the other day. People getting radical really,…starting a revolution. That’s what people do when they don’t like what’s happening in their country.

Madaline once said that this country, the United States, wasn’t messed up enough for people to get out of their complacency and take drastic measures. I don’t know if this is true presently. I think our country has reached that level, and maybe a revolution is due. Obviously the protesters in Iran felt the need, as well as other countries living with corruption. Is it time for US?

Maybe we need to stop whispering with our letters and phone calls, and start roaring with our physical power in numbers.

Every time I read the news, every time I read about the fat cat bankers, Wall Street, Big Pharma, the sinking unemployment rate, the declining housing market, the slimmed down, what’s-in-here health care bill…and now most recently, the unprogressive talks in Copenhagen. Not to focus on the negative, but can we please move forward and report some good news?

What more can we do to make a difference…to make headway that’s more than just small incremental steps that don’t seem to amount to anything that is for the good of all and not just a few?

I am not one for physical violence, nor have I ever thought of myself as an extremist, but I am feeling that playing nice and following the rules is just not working, when so many others are not in favor of the betterment of all in this country.

I have not lost faith….just wanting to do more, and have more of an impact…while not sacrificing my morals or acting without integrity. I’m frustrated - you? ‘Frustration’: A word I am using way too much lately.

Howie brought it up the other day: “…while they cannot put food on the tables for their Families or keep a roof over their heads, they will begin to Protest and Demonstrate in the streets of America to get our Country Back.”

Readers: Is that what it’s going to take, a revolution? Comments? You know what to do.

Al: I haven’t had the chance to play the game nor do I think I will take the time. But thanks for checking in with us and voicing your results. Frustrated eh?

Zen Lill: I just have to say one more thing about Tiger. I’m surprised that no one even responded to the meat of my comment - I too don’t care about him cheating. Men and women will do what they do. Cheating in marriage/committed relationships happens every day. Some do it carelessly; some do it discreetly.

As I said before, I personally am a one man woman - I love the romance…the connection of one-on-one., and it certainly goes deeper than sex - no pun intended.  And I certainly don’t want my man to cheat, but if he does, he better be discreet, and be protected. It’s as simple as that. Any other actions tells me that is he truly does not care or love me, and he is only thinking of himself, and his pleasure.

So that being said, I don’t care that Tiger cheated - obviously he did it to the extreme - he’s quite the adulterous cad. My point was that he had sex without a  condom. You just don’t do that. I don’t care if you’re having sex with one woman or ten. Put a jacket on. His actions…his lack of concern for his wife and family is simply unforgivable.

I’ll end it with saying…he may be a cheetah but I don’t think he had any cougars in his club of women - haah!
